What's Going on with My Woma Pythons?
Just got 2 baby leopard tortoise is there a way I could show you my setup and you can give me some tips????
Kind of piggy-backing on you, is noth making sure you have space for babies once they hatch, but also not count your snakes before they hatch. We just went ham on ball python and cornsnake breeding this year. We have about 12 clutches in the incubator right now. But have about a dozen or more females we had paired up that were waiting to lay. So we have the rack space for the expectation that every female will lay and that every egg will hatch. BUT IN REALITY, be in the mind set thst only half your females will actually lay. And of those clutches thst lay, you have to factor in the mortality rate of eggs going bad. And even further, from all your eggs that hatched, not all might make it. There's always 1 or 2 "failure to thrives" that just happen. But factoring in that in the wild only 10% of eggs that are laid will actually hatch and thrive into adulthood, I'd say having a 10% mortality rate in captivity is a very real expectation. So kind of... expect the glass half empty, and be pleasantly suprised if it ends up more than half full.
Exsctly totally agree preparing for all scenarios is both practical and necessary!
The best tip is to get out of the business It's toxic, snakes are routinely abused, drawers are still used in 99% of facilities AND THE MARKET IS TERRIBLE. ☝️☝️☝️ "Make sure you choose animals you want to work with so you can keep them in crappy racks for the entirety of their lives" Those of us in the hobby know the stain that is ball python breeding. "I've had my fair share of failures" #1: Your first failure is not caring that your animals will never get an opportunity to climb a single branch (Continued on Reddit)
I’d love to continue this conversation. What do you personally work with though? Do you keep ball pythons?
What basking bulb do you use?
Do you ever cut on day 55? And if not why? Just curious I have a clutch that hits 55 today and I want to cut so bad lol.
Earliest i have ever cut is day 57 i usually see pipping around that time! 57-60 days me personally
@@NJPExotics I did have to cut one today the mold was trying to take over it started forming from the inside out! Looks healthy as far as I can see without it being out thank God!
Awesome clutch. The leopard pied is a real banger. Still got a lot of clutches in the incubator. Our first clutch was a head scratcher. Was SUPPOSED to be a dbl het albino pied to an OD yb pied combo. The kicker is we bought the female already gravid from a friend getting out of the hobby. So it was someone we trusted to know what the pairing was. Well... as it turned out, they had thrown a 2nd male in with the female wondering what would come of it. But didn't tell us. So when the eggs started pipping we were very perplexed. There were 3 pieds. But only 1 looked OD. The other 2 weren't bright enough even for them to be yb. There was what we thought was a normal, but there was too much contrast, even for a yb. And the 5th egg had a COMPLETELY white head in the egg which was the real head scratcher. When the babies were all out of the egg we REALLY didn't know what was going on. There was what was clearly an OD YB pied.there was a very odd contrasting bright "normal". 2 pieds with no patterning in the colored saddles, and 1 completely white snake with dark eyes. Once we contacted our friend about it and told us about the other male, things started making more sense. We had a dual sired clutch and the OD pied was the only baby from the OD YB pied male. The other male was 1 we also got from our friend whom we name "Mr. Plus Plus Plus." He was an 8ba pied with a lot of hets and poss hets. Including sandblast and mystic. So the "normal" was actually a mystic. And the 2 pieds were sandblast pieds. And the white snake... well he must have a lot going on because he looks almost like his dad. Mr. Plus Plus Plus is COMPLETELY WHITE, with only 3 black scales, and dark eyes. So the white baby might gain a dark scale or 2 as it grows and will be a holdback for sure.
Very interesting!! Yeah this clutch as they are shedding has been perplexing for me in ways but im excited about them and raising them! Still debating what i will hold back!
@@NJPExotics Oh boy. Can't wait for an update.
Ooooohh those pieds!! 😍
Riiiight?!
Wow!... first time for me!... never knew this turtle existed! It looks really old...the tongue really looks like a fresh , juicy worm among dried background. Thanks 4 video.❤❤❤🙏✌️
Let’s go bro awesome clutch 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Appreciate it!
What's this filmed in ultra HD 10k? Tf
fire clutch 🫡
Congratulations!!! ❤
Thanks so much i am so excited!!!
Awesome clutch bro 😎 congrats on the pieds 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Much appreciated!!! They should be out of the egg any day!
i have mine in an open enclosure like this, but some say to keep in a bin with a lid for moisture. is spraying my open enclosure enough?
How do they clean up snake poop 💩 in an enclosure like that one. Yes, snakes poop.
Carefully ;) but in all honesty they hook them and remove them and place them in a temporary holding container to do enclosure maintenance
Maternal incubation would be pretty sweet! Thought about doing that last year. Since we breed very few ball pythons.
I agree! We gotta try it!! Miss you brotha!
12:47 wow. I'm amazed at those ball pythons. Incredible morph combos
Four?
Wow that's a gorgeous snake
What's up with that random Pic of the crushed car at 0:48?
Are they poisonous
They are venomous
Never occurred to me. I built a misting system with an old pump and some nozzles left over from other projects and had a humidifier in the closet not being used. A trip to the hardware store and 20 bucks worth of tubing and fittings later I also now have a fogger system
Pick the species you can breed the most genetic deformities into. Remember: when you're sell helpless animals with crooked spines and bulging eyes to children, it's ok because the color is nice.
That is an anole.. they have some ability to change colour.. but have a different shaped head
100% a day gecko the eye shape markings and body / head shape all match up! Did see plenty really cool brown and green anoles too!🦎
Great channel ❤👍👍
Holding veneous snakes or other reptiles MUST BE OUT-LAWED! LOOK AT WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO THE EVERGLADES!!. WHAT IF venemous animals escape into neighborhoods! These holders are wierdos and arent responsible.
Glad your ok Nick!
Yes! Up moving and walking thank you!
Glad you’re doing good, sorry about your car. Hang in there
Appreciate it thanks so much!
Can you give the lost of supplements they need
Beautiful snakes, especially Wally😍
The eggs seem perfect, it is such a wonderful thing to find them.
It really is!
The last clutch my big Mojave, Geraldine, layed numbered 11. I chose 11, recalling Geraldine.
Love that! So close!!
Does she get upset when you take the eggs away from her?
Shes protective for sure but once removed from them and cleaned off they do not show any signs of mothering tendencies
Your woma is much calmer then my two knuckleheads. They try to eat everything haha. Even the hand that feeds them
Haha! She’s the most docile snake! My male is too my other female is the one that is and endless pit!
Thank uu💚🐢
Thank you 🐢💚
Nice! I also got some snakes from him in the Ultramel hypo pied project ! Cheers 🥂
It’s a great project and on top of that no doubt Garrick’s got some solid stock for the project!!
What do you recommend humidity wise for a 1 year old Leopard Tortoise? Cheers.
Great videos btw!
Garret from reach out reptiles??
Garrick DeMeyer
Knowing Garrick that girl is het for Holy Grail lol i love that project man. I have a Clown %100 het lavender male and i just need a female to start my process.
Dam you said ultramel and im sad im wrong lmao
Nothing wrong with being wrong haha! But Garrick has some powerhouse animals for sure!!
Hello I’m getting a redfoot this week and im planning on his enclosure. I have a question regarding the humidifier you’re using…..does it give out cold air or warm air?
Good stuff man!
Thanks! Im very excited!
Awesome additions bro 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 and the hets I won a say is clown, pied, and hypo
Thank you!! Great guess too! 2/3!
I'm using that exact model to create fog in my vivarium works great!
I don't know what it is about be careful otherwise you might go for John Wick or doomSlayer if something happens
I mean a lot of people don't understand Turtles and tortoises they do have a personality... and they could be hilarious at times and Judgement looks, lots of judgement looks, if you do something stupid in their presents
Thanks for sharing! I couldn’t attend this year due to scheduling conflicts, but I’m living vicariously through these recaps. 🤣
Oh no!! 🥺 I'm so sorry.
This has helped me so much! I have two babies in Arizona
I’m so sorry to hear this!!! My son and I were really looking forward to possibly getting a baby from you!!! You’ll get em next season! Keep it up!!! And keep your head up .
I appreciate it! Sorry to bum you guys but yes like you said keeping my head up and moving forward! I’ll get them eventually!!!
